First General Sale of 2012

Reading Auctioneers Thimbleby & Shorland report a bright trade at their first General Sale of 2012 at Reading Auction Centre last Saturday. Auctioneer and T&S partner Michael Kimber says “We had some nice pieces in the silver, jewellery and collectables sections and they were sought after. It is always a pleasure to offer good quality items and I am pleased with the prices they made. There is unquestionably demand for quality.”

Top prices achieved were:

Silver box with foliate lid £110
Silver cigarette box, London1930 £180
A rug with Persian design 22’ x 10’ made £460.

Whilst the trade for furniture continues to be difficult there were still some pleasing results, including a Victorian shop counter £220; a roll top bureau £95 and a mahogany armchair £70.

The next Reading General Sale is on Saturday 25^th February and enquiries for entries may be made at any time.
