Summary Report on the Sale
“The sun shone for the dispersal sale of Red House Carriage Museum, Darley Dale, Matlock, on behalf of Caroline Dale-Leech. The sale was very well attended with buyers from all over the country and also from abroad, and it is to Norway that the historic Travelling Chariot from Eyam Hall is going having sold for £60,000. Caroline Dale-Leech’s Siamese phaeton by Mulliner made £10,000; a pair of Shand Mason fire engine lamps sold for £1,050; a Merryweather brass helmet made £480; the postilion jacket went for £1,800; and 3 copper milk churns are also heading to Norway for £730. A more detailed report will follow.”
