Since 1901, Thimbleby and Shorland have been hosting auctions in the heart of Reading.
We hold regular monthly auctions of good quality Antiques and later items, for which catalogues are available on-line via the-saleroom.com and at which bidding is both on-line and live. We also have sections for general Household Goods; Garden Equipment, Tools and Bicycles; and Vehicles
Our Saleroom is open on weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm to receive items for sale and for free valuations.
Seized Vehicles – we hold at least 2 sales per month
The sales are on-line except for the one held in conjunction with the Antiques & General Auction, which is live only

In this auction we sell vehicles on behalf of the Official Receiver and liquidators as well as any private entries
The world-famous Reading Carriage Sales have been in operation for over 60 years. There are now three sales annually in Reading, with an additional one each summer in the north of England.
Over the years, carriages, sets of harness, sundry accoutrements and anything else related to the art of carriage driving have been bought and sold by clients from around the globe. Heavy Horse vehicles, harness, and related items are also included, plus general Saddlery & Tack.
As well as those looking to buy and sell their items, the sales provide an important meeting place for driving and equestrian enthusiasts. From 2020 all sales will be online as well as live.
From farmland to period cottages, sailing club houses to farms & stables we provide a full service to help you find someone for your property.
Our service can include among other things advertising, brochures, featuring the property on our website and sending the details to our list of more than 3,000 email customers who have a specific interest in property.
Immediate attendance is important so visits are made within 24 hours if possible. We have access to a range of transport firms and have room to store assets in the short/ long term.
Retention of title claims are dealt with speedily so free assets can be sold by Public Auction via our sales or by Private Treaty.
